No one could asked more from you Jordan you are the backbone off spafford when you and Brian meet it was a gift to humanity but Brian moss is the soul of spafford his unique style and timing is match by no one

This was pretty, pretty good.  Much better than what I expected for a short-notice substitution.  It's worth noting right off the top - I think Nick played a huge part in the immediate cohesion, specifically in the jams, between Mike and the rest of the band.  Nick is often the catalyst, but in this show he was the musical leader, IMO. Anywho....It's clear from the start that Mike embodies the essence of Spafford.  In no rush to be heard, he takes a laid-back stance for the beginning jam, allowing Cory and Jordan to shine.  He was even patient during the segue - gave us a little bit at a time and didn't force it. Giants features some top-tier delicate playing from Cory and Jordan.  Including an ever-so-subtle Windmill tease, which borders on a full-band Windmill tease around 8 minutes.  Nick masterfully pulls them out of it at just the right time for the gradual build into Mad World. Mike picks up on a nice theme during Plans and carries it through to the peak with Jordan going off in the background.  Someone (Nick, Cory), mixes in some timely samples underneath.  Very well done Plans. While the song portion of Home is a step slower, it had no bearing on the jam (!!) portion.  Excellent communication/interplay between Nick/Mike/Jordan early on.  Things take a weird (good) turn as the jame plunges further into type II territory.  Where did THIS come from?!  The last few minutes feature Mike taking over the jam for the first time.  After some shreddery and a quasi-peak...they drop into Bee Jam (?!?!).  Alrighty.  A short-but-solid version, Bee Jam features some choice Cory before seguing into his New Motif instrumental, Machine Elves.  I was expecting standard fare for Watermelon Man, but I was pleasantly surprised with the jam that developed - especially the interplay between Cory and Mike.  The build out of this jam towards Lonely was my favorite thing to listen to during this show.  Mike and Jordan shine bright in the peak, but really all members are contributing in meaningful ways.  The segue into Lonely is dead sexy.   Lonely rages and Passing Time is goddamn gorgeous.  See ya out there.

It seems people have forgotten that Ganzter is one of the best guitarist around, glad he's able to remind everyone, although obviously wish under different circumstances

Awesome performance guys. Thanks for keeping it going ??

Love for Brian Moss  (6/13/2024 5:47:08 PM)

But also love for Mike Gantzer. He couldnt have been better without being Brian. It was good to hear Mikes guitar again. Ive been looking forward to his next project! More spafford related, Corey really came into his own this past year as a bandmember and is bringing alot to the table you could feel his leadership in the jams, very cool. Also Jordan Fairless, just holdin it down like usual. The covers were great but at this point Fairless has enough bangers to cover a show himself(not that we want that persay).

Big ups for these guys. Still played a sick show with a man down. Of course would have loved to see the whole band but the bassist really stepped up. Lots of attitude and looked like they were having fun. The show was honestly one big jam. Giants in the light and machine elves are highlights for me

Wow ...what a special situation we have here and also Wow what a night! This was my wife and I honeymoon run and Spafford announced that Brian Moss will not be playing! I was extremely skeptical at first just very curious on how this was going to work with Mike Gantzer stepping in but I went to the tour opener with a very open mind. From the first Jam and with Mike's solo at the end it gave me some sense of relief that the night ahead was going to be pretty dang good. I give Mike an extremely large amount of credit for filling such big shoes and playing with confidence, he did such an awesome job! Spafford will never sound complete without Brian but it still sounded very good. Get well soon #Mossmode

This was my first spafford live experience, it did not disappoint. Mike filled Brian’s shoes really well for show 1 of 10. Mikes first solo is pure emotion, you could sense some relief from him once he finished the solo. Then it was just fun for the rest of the show. I upgraded to VIP for this show, my first VIP experience ever, got to meet the band, all a great guys, really down to earth. It was cool seeing what they worked on in soundcheck come into fruition during the live show. Plus now I HAVE to go see them with Brian back in the mix, for the full experience. 1st show of many in the books.
